Whakatane Community Gardens
Whakatane Community Garden aims to bring people together to learn and grow while having fun, improving the environment and ourselves organically!
We offer about 50% of our garden beds to community groups and schools to work for themselves. We provide the soil, advice, general weeding and irrigation of the garden beds. With the proviso that these groups share of their harvest, for large group this could be a token sharing of a strawberry :)
The remaining garden beds are worked by volunteers (families and individuals) to provide food to the community, free of charge or for a small donation if people are able. The harvest is freely available to volunteers.
We wish to become a gathering place, a place of learning and peer to peer teaching. As the garden grows so to do we grow, in scope and the services we will be able to provide.
