Whakatāne's Local Wild Food Festival is back in 2023 but this time it's bigger and better that before.

The Local Wild Food Festival is an evolution of the previously named Ōhope Local Wild Food Challenge. The festival is a relaxed atmosphere with live music, food trucks, wild food demonstrations and markets.

The challenge element of the food festival will return too, and we encourage local (and visiting) foodies to enter the competition; preparing a wild food dish presented for judging on the day.
