The Song They Saved - Public Premiere
The story of the people behind the pioneering research that ensured the song of the North Island kōkako would not fall silent.
Join us at the Capitol Theatre in Te Puke for the public premiere of The Song They Saved.
Told by the people who were there, this documentary shares the challenges, discoveries and unexpected moments behind efforts to save one of Aotearoa’s most distinctive forest birds.
Through personal interviews and archival material, we meet the researchers whose curiosity, determination and collaboration helped shape kōkako conservation. Their stories capture a remarkable chapter in our conservation history and the people behind the work.
