5 Oct
10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Join Friends of I'Anson Bush and Forest & Bird Tauranga for a guided walk around I'Anson bush reserve in Te Puna.
This reserve was gifted to the Queen Elizabeth II Trust (QEII National Trust) in 1987 by local residents Keith and Takiko I’Anson. The land when it was donated was a dairy farm and had no trees - if you have ever visited this little reserve you will know how hard that is to believe. Over the following decades this reserve was planted out by the community, and it is estimated that 200,000 trees have been planted in the 10 hectare reserve.
This will be a leisurely walk around the 1.3km long loop track to learn about the history of the site, the native species that now call it home, how the community currently protects it, and how you could support too.
The walk is wheelchair accessible with a gravel path and mostly flat easy terrain. Please wear appropriate foot wear such as sneakers.
There is limited car parking so car pooling is recommended if possible.
