The early bird gets the worm AND a dawn chorus at Aongatete forest. Join us for this very special experience. You’ll be up early and driving on quiet roads to reach the forest at 6am. We’ll welcome you in the pre-dawn glow, offer a hot drink, and get you into position for the dawn chorus (a short walk up the hill).
Be immersed in the sounds and sensations of the forest greeting a new day, expertly narrated by our bird identification guru Paul Cuming. Once the sun has risen, a delicious breakfast awaits in our kohanga. Enjoy a short talk from our guest speaker, followed by a volunteer-guided experience of our restoration work in the forest if you’re interested. The event will finish at around 9am.
Tickets are $28 each. To secure yours, please email events@aongateteforest.org and let us know how many tickets you’d like. We will ask you to provide payment by internet banking, and then email you to confirm your booking.
This experience is best for those aged 10 and up – the ability to stand quietly in the cool morning air for half an hour is a pre-requisite. The number of attendees is limited.
As a weather-dependent event we will cancel if the conditions are not suitable. Ticket refunds will be offered.
