Catherine and Neville Dunton-McLeod founded Plenty Permaculture in 2014. We love sponsoring permaculture and horticulture education. As the the Bay of Plenty is our chosen home, we are keen to spread practical know-how with the people who live here, adding to the resilience and permanent abundance of this beautiful place.
Our aim is to monitor and protect the Pilot Bay habitat and environment. One of our members walk the beach every day, ensuring the beach is clean, and debris free in the process. We liaise with the coast care co-ordinator and Park Ranger, and have assisted with plantings, as well as assisted in the rescue of wildlife, when appropriate. Several of our members now patrol the surf beach also, and when numbers permit, we may man the other side on a daily rostered basis also (as we do along Pilot Bay).
Plenty Permaculture offers the internationally recognised permaculture curriculum over 12 Saturday workshops that teach the foundation of the permaculture philosophy as well as practical hands-on skills. These workshops, combined with the presentation of an individual design project, enable participants to obtain a Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC).

Pou Whakaaro believes that Community Led Education is an excellent vehicle for sharing skills, knowledge and experiences which strengthen and enrich our communities. Facilities and support are offered to environmental groups and those wishing to run courses or develop skills.
Predator Free BOP is a community initiative to trap rats in order to protect our native birds. We are aiming to get a rat trap in every fifth backyard. We cover the suburban Tauranga and Western Bay of Plenty area.

Uretara Estuary Managers (UEM) was formed in 2004 to protect the habitat and birdlife around our estuary. Our scope of work expanded rapidly after gaining Sustainable Management funding in 2006 for catchment restoration projects, followed by other grants in 2008 – 2011 to extend the boundaries of that work.
