Sustainable Backyards is a Bay of Plenty programme that inspires people to make positive, practical changes at home. Through events, workshops and local projects, we share ideas and skills for healthier homes, thriving gardens and more sustainable everyday living. Whether you’re just starting out or already taking action, Sustainable Backyards connects you with local knowledge, people and inspiration.

What to expect this year:

Sustainable Backyards is back for its 21st year and has got lot of exciting new activities for you this March (and some returning favourites of course!)

Get hands-on with the environment through beach cleans, bush walks, and garden tours.
Connect with your community at the benefit concert, film screening, and guided bus tour.
Explore sustainable living with clothing swaps and eco-friendly sales.
