Kia ora and welcome to Every Bite - Bay of Plenty edition!

Envirohub BOP is incredibly excited to bring Every Bite to the Bay of Plenty region! This is a food waste prevention programme designed to help households cut back on their food waste, become more food resourceful, and save money in the process.

This four-week programme provides you with the tools, support and, most importantly, the motivation to monitor your food waste, as well as loads of tips, tricks, and tasty recipes for keeping your kai in date and on your plates. It’s super easy and with the average household throwing away more than $1300 worth of food a year, a few small tweaks to your daily habits can make a big difference to your household food waste and your grocery bill.

Remember! This is a “zero-judgement” programme. We are all at different stages on our journey to live more lightly.

What’s included:

• Launch Event: Cooking demo with a local chef to kick off the programme - more info below.
• Tips, Tricks & Recipes: Practical resources to help reduce food waste and make the most of your ingredients.
• Halfway Video Call: Check-in seminar to see how everyone’s going, share experiences, and get support.
• Prizes: Opportunities to win fun prizes including restaurant and grocery vouchers.
• Community Connections & Resources: Build connections with fellow participants and learn about local community group initiatives.
• Wrap-Up Event - Potluck Picnic: Celebrate your progress, share tips, and enjoy a meal together with your new foodie friends!

Throughout the four weeks, you’ll have access to a private group chat to ask questions, share wins, and connect with your community, as well as our Every Bite Pantry Portal, packed with resources, tips, and recipes.

Launch Event | Tuesday 3 February, Evening (Exact Time TBC) | Te Pahi Cook School, Welcome Bay

To kick off the Every Bite programme, we’ll be coming together for an evening of connection, inspiration, and delicious food. Set in the beautiful garden and rural setting of Te Pahi Cook School in Welcome Bay and run by Chef James, the evening will begin with a wander through the garden and an introduction to the Every Bite programme and what’s ahead for the month. Chef James will then lead a hands-on cooking demo, preparing multiple recipes designed around minimising food waste. You’ll leave inspired, equipped with ideas, and ready to start making the most of your ingredients at home.
