DESCRIPTION:Come along for another awesome Coast Care planting event with our pals @MaketuOngatoroWetlandSociety\nLed by local Coast Care restoration coordinator Chris\, this is part of a regular programme of planting events to help restore our precious sand dunes – the backbone of our beaches and the first line of defence against coastal storm surge! Dune planting is easy and good fun with like-minded people\, so bring your friends and family along (if you’re bringing littles ones\, please ensure you’re ready and able to help them).\n\nOur events only last 2 hours and are both practical and educational.\n\nWhere? Maketu Spit\nWhat time? 0930\nWhat do I need?– Gardening gloves (we will have these on-hand but some prefer to use their own)– Sturdy\, covered walking shoes/boots (no jandals or bare feet please)– Raincoat (just in case).\n\n\nThis is a family-friendly event\, however\, a moderate level of fitness is important as some of the planting is quite a walk down Maketu Spit.\n\nPlease keep an eye on the weather forecasts. If Met Service issues a red weather warning\, this event will be cancelled. Please contact janie@maketuwetlands.org.nz for further information.
