SUMMARY:FOREST WORKDAY
DESCRIPTION:Join for the Forest Workday \nPlease ensure all tools\, gloves and boots are clean of soil and seeds so we protect the biosecurity of our beautiful virgin forest.  \n\nPlease arrive by 8.45am to ensure everyone is present at the briefing and H&S talk.\nThe work for the day will be removing bait from bait stations and track clearing.\nNew volunteers –  Please make yourself known to the person in charge of the day when you arrive and assemble where required. Once the briefing is completed you will be partnered with an experienced volunteer on a suitable line according to fitness.\nIf you haven’t already signed up as a volunteer\, you need to complete Ōtanewainuku Kiwi Trust’s online secure Volunteer Form before working in the forest. \nSturdy walking shoes or boots will be required\, as well as appropriate clothes\, raincoat\,  snacks and plenty of water if going out into the bush.\nGardening gloves are recommended. There are tools available but you are welcome to bring your own loppers\, hammer and folding pruning saw.\nHi-Viz vest and personal first aid kit are also recommended and allergy medications need to be in your first aid kit for wasp stings etc.\nA reasonable level of fitness is required as you need to be aware of changes in the terrain.\nSausage Sizzle\, biscuits and hot/cold drinks will be provided afterwards.
