DESCRIPTION:Dynamic Futures Workshop – Tauranga & Western Bay Climate Action Festival  \nEvent Details:\n \n\nDate: Friday\, September 20th\, 2024\nTime: 4:00pm – 7:00pm\nLocation: University of Waikato\, Tauranga Campus\, 101 Durham Street\, Tauranga 3110\nRegistration: Secure your ticket HERE. Early registration is recommended\, as there are limited spots available! This is a FREE event to attend.\n\nDescription: \nTry your hand at making climate adaptation decisions at this fun\, interactive session run by Beca. \nIncreasingly\, we are seeing the impacts of climate change across Aotearoa New Zealand. Towns and cities are having to plan whether to avoid\, protect\, accommodate\, or retreat their communities as they start to experience increased frequency and intensity of hazards such as rainfall and rising sea levels. There are difficult questions about how to choose the best adaptation measures to invest in\, as they can be expensive and engineered solutions may only provide limited protection in the future. \nAt this workshop\, attendees will be given an overview of climate adaptation planning and will then be broken into teams and given ‘money’ to invest a range of adaptation options that could make or break an imaginary town experiencing the impacts of climate change. \nWill you act quickly\, or wait and see what the future brings?
