Drive to the top of Mt Tarawera, cross the crater, and remove wilding conifer seedlings to assist the reestablishment of native vegetation. Grade: Medium-Hard. Participants 14yrs + and confident walking on steep mobile scoria slopes and along high sharp ridges. Bring: Minimum 3 litres water, lunch and snacks, wet weather and warm gear, sun hat, sunblock, boots/sturdy shoes, gaiters and/or leggings an advantage for loose scoria, and gloves for pulling out pines.
